Fennec / Mozilla Firefox 4.0b2 for N900

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

Just got curious about the new version (beta) of Fennec and first tried to follow the instructions on http://firefox.com/m/beta . However – that one didn’t realy work since the repository which was added is not for the beta but for the release – meaning I got 1.1.

After some digging on the mozilla server I found the right repository which is:
URL: http://moff.mozilla.com/latest-beta/maemo/multi/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: release

Adding that one and disabling the other mozilla repository got me Fennec 4.0b2 installed.

Have fun playing

Finally the server upgrade

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Finally I am upgrading my server hardware – the last step in the whole upgrade procedure.

However – since I hate downtimes (who doesn’t) I quickly put together the hardware on my desk to keep the old one running as long as possible.

That way I can set up the new one while using the old one.

Linuxday in Graz

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Yesterday I was at the local Linuxday for the first time in my life. This might be connected with the fact that there was a BSD information stand this year – which gave me the opportunity to get to know Bernhard Fröhlich (decke@) and Daniel Seuffert (ds@) from the FreeBSD Project (decke was recently made a ports committer – congrats – and ds is a quiet generous supporter to the project).

Sadly I only had 2 hours of spare time to stay – but they were fun – and in case BSD returns to the Linuxday next year I’ll probably be visiting it again.

In december last year I started the so far biggest upgrading process. The overall target was 3 machines which really needed new / newer hardware…
